Dominion Explorers Ltd. a mining company, established a summer field camp at
Hunter Bay from 1927 until 1931. Domex also operated their own radio stations at
certain points in the north, Hunter Bay being the most northerly of these. In the
spring of 1932 the Hunter Bay radio equipment was purchased by the Federal
Government and moved to Lindsley Bay to become RCCS Station VEN. Later it was moved again to Cameron Bay.
