ROE, Harris Ellis Passed away peacefully on January 20, 2006 at the age of 89. Born October 18, 1916, he was a devoted and loving family man. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Evelyn (nee McKinlay) whom he met in Ft. McMurray, Alberta. He is survived by his son, Ronald and daughter, Lynda (Peter) Gamble. Harris is blessed with four grandchildren, Sherri (Allan), Kevin, Thomas (Sarah), Richard and three great grandchildren, Neil, Vanessa and Alexander. Also surviving him is one sister-in-law, Marie and many nieces and nephews. Harris enjoyed life to the fullest, traveling many places. A soldier 30 years with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals, he traveled to Canada's far north, and overseas during WWII. After15 years in Edmonton as Area Recreation Director, he retired to Ladysmith, BC while still enjoying many more travel adventures with Evelyn. He later became an active resident at Berwick On The Lake in Nanaimo. Good neighbour and friend to many, Harris will be missed and remembered with fondness by all who had the pleasure to know him.
