John Bernard Peacey [ 1910 - 1978 ] Enlisted in 1928 or 29 in Winnipeg.
Posted to Aklavik in the late 30's at which time there where five
or six men at the station.
When the war started all the other men where pulled out and J.B.
was left to run the radio station by himself. The army forgot he
was there alone and continued to ship provisions for six men. As
the currency of the day was tobacco, ammunition and alcohol he was
a very well to do gent!
Transferred out in 1944 to Ottawa. He was a W.O.1 when he retired
in 1951
